WEEK 25 UPDATE

5^th Grade Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the month of March and the start of yet another interesting month in Grade 5. The weeks ahead bring with them our historical fiction writing unit which coincides with what we will learn about World War II in Social Studies.  Our March activities include Spirit Week and International Week for which the students have chosen Russia.      

What we learned this week

Maths: Topic 12 – Perimeter and Area

Literacy: Fiction Writing/The Golden Lion Tamarin Comes Home/Good Sentences

Science: Chapter 4 – Ecosystems

Social Studies: Chapter 9 The Great Depression and The New Deal – Chapter Test and Wrap Up.

What we will learn next week

Maths: Topic 12 – Perimeter and Area/Topic Test/Cumulative Test Topics 1-12/Topic 13 Solids

Literacy: Historical Fiction Writing/Katie’s Trunk/Good Sentences

Science: Chapter 4 – Ecosystems

Social Studies: Chapter 10 World War II Begins.

Due to the short week, we do not have a Student of the Week this week.

Reminders

1.     Spirit Week will be held from March 13 – 17. Race Day is planned for March 15. We will wear black on the day.

2.     International Week presentations will take place on Monday, March 27.
