Week 39 Update

5th Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
We’ve reached the end of the last full week of the school year. There are only four and a half days of Grade 5 left. Thank you to all of the students and parents for the contributions they have made to a most enjoyable year.
What we learned this week
Maths: Topic 20 Probability
Literacy: Fantasy Narrative Reading and Writing – Bridge to Terrabithia
Science: Chapter 6: Earth and Space
Social Studies: Chapter 16 People and Government.   
What we will learn NEXT WEEK
We have completed almost all of our curriculum for the year so will spend next week wrapping up our focus on Poetry. We will also get our hands covered in chalk for our last Art lesson of the year. Other than that, all that remains to be done is the writing of a letter to Mr. Ferreira about what we expect to learn with him next year.

1.     Please note that Thursday next week is the last day of school. Students will be dismissed shortly after lunch time.

Week 38 Update

5th Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
We’ve reached the end of the first full week of June faster than expected. The warmer temperatures and smells in the air bring with them the usual reminder that our school year is about to end. Before we can allow that to happen, we have two fantasy-filled weeks left in Grade 5. These will include our reading of the fantasy novel Bridge to Terabithia, writing our own fantasy stories, and, of course, next Friday’s presentation of The Wizard of Oz.

Literacy: Fantasy Narrative Reading and Writing – Bridge to Terrabithia

Week 37 Update

5th Grade Weekly Update

Welcome to the month of June and the final three weeks of the Grade 5 school year. Alongside their June studies, the students will spend what remains of their time in class reflecting on the year and thinking about all that they have learned since August last year.
